I decided today to focus on making things for the kids lunchboxes for the week ahead. Cheesy biscuits, raspberry almond loaf and some gluten free choc chip biscuits. However I decided to not go ahead with the choc chip biscuits till we had used up the anzacs. I gave the fam a taste of the cheesy biscuits and they were a big hit. The 6 year old vomitted in his mouth a little when given the raspberry almond loaf because it tasted like "raspberry" not sure what he was expecting, "cheeseburger" flavour perhaps. But I couldn't care less if he didn't like it because I bloody did. The 1 year old passed up on the loaf too but did enjoy the biscuit. So 1 out of 2 is better than nothing I guess.
I took the kids for an outing this morning and ran into someone I knew through a friend. They told me they had been following my blog. Then she told me that its misleading to say I've quit sugar because I'm still eating some sugars and did I know that I actually haven't quit sugar. I was a little taken back because the only other time I had ever met this person was at a hens night where she was dressed up as a giant (rhymes with menis...) ... and now she is trying to school me on misleading people. I think I might have taken her more seriously dressed as the doodle. I told her that I was fully aware that I wasn't quitting all sugars just fructose and before I could even get out my rehearsed cult line she told me that I should then change my angle to "I'm only eating glucose". She then spoke for about 5min about how I'm being brainwashed and something about the government. I told her that I will pass on her concerns to Obama and my cult leader.
What did I eat today
Made by the hubby was eggs, avocado and cheese melted over sour dough bread
Left over Butter Chicken with Naan bread
I was so scared of this dinner. The old pizza made from a cauliflower for the base. I just could not get my head around how this was going to taste any good. I nearly stuffed it up from the first step where I missed the steam the cauliflower part. Luckily I was able to get the cheese I had just grated from the top and steam it. I made the base and put it in the oven and decided I would add some olives and tomato to the toppings. I used Passata sauce to cover the base. I realised when I cut it into pieces, that it was going to have to be eaten with a fork. I was already planning my back up meal for when the family left the table in disgust. I was actually nervous taking my first bite and had the napkin ready to spit it into... BUT IT WAS YUMMO!!! I could have eaten another 3 slices but stopped at 2. The husband ate a half of the pizza and the 6 year old ate 1 slice but only the topping, he told me the "Bread" might have been off. I will definitely make this again but in small mini individual pizza sizes. It really was a surprise hit and there were no left overs...
I tried a piece of the raspberry loaf so that would have to class as my dessert for the day.
I'm quitting fructose people.. oh you don't care... neither do I
Cheesy biscuits are really salty.. even though no salt was added they can only be eaten in small amounts
Cauliflower pizza base is surprisingly yummy
I only shopped for my meals up till Wednesday night this week, as I'm sick of wasting food or it going rotten.
Speaking of rotten the $7 raspberries I purchased were rotten today.. this happens a lot lately from Woolworths. Lucky I bought 2 packs ($14) and 1 was good, unlucky that I can't find the receipt, as I would be raining mouldy raspberries on the counter tomorrow.
Was craving a cold softdrink today, but a cold water sufficed.
I may be in a cult and getting brainwashed...
Back to work tomorrow!!
