Anyway if you do like reading this website than please like and share with others. That way I can maybe get a win for all the people who start up a website not really knowing what they are doing, break all the rules and apparently by the award selling author of all things computers be destined to fail... but manage to come out with a win. I am not doing this for profit, there are no adds on this site, I am not selling anything.. well maybe the 1 year old might be up for sale shortly if she doesn't get her sleeping routine back together. Party in her crib at 3am raving to "the wheels on the bus" thanks to the loveable press my hand and I sing dog is becoming a little old. Nobody raves to wheels on the bus anymore... seriously are with in the 1800's?
Anyway this morning I found a recipe that involved using an avocado as a kind of cup to cook an egg in. I was like "hmm, i like avocado, i kinda like eggs and I am hungry... lets do this". I decided to add some chopped tomato and some goats cheese to make it even more fancy and feel like I totally could be on Masterchef. It was cooked to perfection (yep didn't burn it or drop it) and I was pretty excited to eat it... BUT there was something not quite right going on with this avocado egg dish. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but there was a sought of chemical taste coming through. Eventually I realised that the skin from the avocado under the heat had leaked a sort of weird tasting juice through the egg, as if to say "oh you thought you could cook an egg in an avocado.... WRONG!" I wanted to like it. I really did. But I felt like I was eating spray and wipe. So there was a breakfast fail to start the day. For lunch I had my heart set on a chicken salad sandwhich but when I put the bowl of chicken breast on the table and walked away to make myself a drink. The 1 year old crawled up on the chair, got the container of chicken and went outside to feed it to the dog. I came out to find them both sitting on the grass, enjoying what should have been my lunch. (I think the 1 year old was trying to get me back for taking the batteries out of her singing dog last night... well played, well played).
So I decided that I would just eat two pieces of sour dough bread with butter. STUFF the salad, stuff the cheese. I'm making a point of mourning the loss of my chicken. (that and I was too lazy to get the salad out of the fridge).
I also decided that today I needed to make some purchases to help me in the kitchen (since my husband decided that an empty box would suit me better than a thermo-mix....) I wanted to buy a shallow fryer because there was this incident at Day 8 where I nearly gave myself 3rd degree burns by attempting to cook some pork parcels in oil in a frying pan. It was really scary trying to flip over a pork parcel with oil spitting and popping into the air. I never mentioned this, but that night at about 2am when I got up to get the 1 year old her medicine, I slipped over in the kitchen as the oil had obviously popped its way onto the floor... I love stacking it when your barely awake.. its my favourite thing to do. Hence we need a fryer, its for our families safety...
I also wanted to get an icecream maker.... (no its not what your thinking) I want one to make healthy ice-cream (yes there is such a thing) but it requires the icecream to be churned and my arms really weren't made for churning... I can't even do a proper push up on my toes.. these arms have nothing. So I think I need an icecream maker.
Also thought I might invest in a new oven mit and some baking trays. Its a pity I don't get paid till next Friday... its also a pity that I have my husbands key card. I also need some winter clothes, some jewellery and a puppy. Thanks husband xx
Party Planning is also under way for the 6 year olds special birthday.
I convinced him to let me serve his guests water instead of softdrink or cordials. I will print out and make special personalised wrappers to put around them with a cool drinking straw. We all know nothing makes water taste better than when its drank out of a crazy straw.
We have also decided that I will make a monster fruit platter. Literally, he wants me to create some shark/monster out of a watermelon with fruit spewing from its mouth like he found on pinterest. Did I mention my 6 year old likes using my ipad to search things on pinterest that make me feel like a failure as a mum. Apparently all the other mums are out there making cool shit and I'm here just serving normal mashed potato when I should be serving purple mashed potato moulded with sand castle equipment into a bloody fish....
We also decided to order in pizzas for everyone. Less hassle and not much sugar. That way they can be delivered mid party and I'll tip the delivery guy if he lets all the kids try and tackle him before he gets out the gate... (pfft wont find a mum doing that on pinterest... see i'm cool....).
I will also make up some coconut crack in different flavours and some other approved favourites by the 6 year old. He has demanded no beetroot cupcakes on the premises (pfft as if you even had to tell me that).
So I think this party will come along quite nicely. Just 26 kids and a jumping castle... what could go wrong??????
Did I also mention that Friday nights in the family is now dubbed "6 year old cooks a treat night". This is to try and get him involved and not feel like he is missing out on "normal food". I asked the 6 year old to tell me something he still wants, that he isn't allowed to have due to it being a sugary treat. I told him that I will try my best to replicate a healthy version of it. The answer "a television in my bedroom" was infact a good try, but not where I was going with this at all. After much discussion, he realised he would like some marshmallows and maybe a campfire in the yard to cook them on... I found a recipe for marshmallows that were sugar free but no recipe to make a campfire... (unlucky)
So tonight we are going to attempt this recipe http://thesugarbreakup.com/2014/03/09/toasted-coconut-marshmallow/
I have a bad feeling that we will end up with a container of goo at the end of this, that the 6 year old wont touch. Lucky the 1 year old has a thing for goo.....
Anyway, I'm off to hopefully make my purchases before I pick up the 6 year old from school.
High Five for Friday!!!
*** Oh I also added a Recipe section to the blog, with all my current recipes I am using. I will continue to add to this section as I find new things to make. I thought it might be easier to access than through my meal plans.. HoRaH!
